![]() Volunteers are essential to our organization. Advent House Ministries offers many volunteering opportunities: Literacy Tutors for Adults Working with Toni Townshend, our Literacy Coordinator, volunteers provide assistance to adults working on building reading skills. Many are working toward a GED and most are participating in our Good Work! Employment Program. Sessions are offered on weekdays and some Saturdays. GED Tutors We need GED tutors for adults and young adults in Math, Social Studies, Writing, Science and Reading Comprehension. No prior tutoring experience is necessary. Academic Tutors for Children Our literacy programs include weekend and some weekday skill-building opportunities for children and young teens. Interested volunteers should contact Toni Townshend, Literacy Coordinator, at our main office number, 517-485-4722, or via email. Meal Providers for the Weekend Day Shelter Groups of volunteers (7-10 people) are needed to purchase, prepare, and serve hot meals at our Weekend Day Shelter Program. This program operates Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year. Hot meals are served from 11:30a-12:30p and 3:30p-4:30p on Saturdays and 9:30a-11a and 2p-3p on Sundays. Interested volunteers should contact Susan Cancro, Executive Director, at our main office number, 517-485-4722, or via email. This is a great opportunity for local residents to give back to the Lansing community. Your volunteer efforts make all of our programs possible! |
